Tokyo Stock Exchange Closes for Three Days Amid Holidays

The Tokyo Stock Exchange and other major cash equity markets in Japan are closed for three days, from Monday, September 21, to Wednesday, September 23. The closure is due to three separate holidays on Japan's calendar: Respect for the Aged Day, Citizens' Holiday, and Autumnal Equinox Day.

The regular trading of Tokyo-listed shares will resume on Thursday, September 24. However, selected derivatives continue to trade during this period, allowing investors to respond to developments affecting Japanese markets.

The Bank of Japan raised its policy rate by 25 basis points earlier, taking it from 1% to 1.25%. The decision was made with a 7-2 vote and had been widely expected, but two policymakers voted against the move.
