Toronto Couple Transforms Historic Bank Building into Vibrant Beachside Restaurant

A Toronto couple is transforming a historic bank building into a new restaurant called Leuty's on Queen. The restaurant, set to open in September, will be located at 1963 Queen St. E and will blend small-town charm with the vibrant culture of the Beaches neighborhood.

The co-owners, Gabby Martindale and Kamden Kennedy, grew up in Waterloo and Thunder Bay respectively but have made Toronto their home. They fell in love with the Beaches due to its connection to water, reminiscent of their hometowns.

'My mom's side of the family is from the States, so I grew up going to South Carolina,' Martindale said. 'Where my partner's from, he's on Lake Superior and grew up on the water. So it really resonates with us to be close to the water.'

The restaurant will take over a former Home Bank of Canada branch and will have two floors: the main floor for dining and the second floor for private events and workshops.
