Trade Nation Acquires FXCM’s UK Client Book in Strategic Deal
Trade Nation has acquired the UK client book of FXCM, a legacy trading brand, for an undisclosed amount. Matthew Wright, Trade Nation’s Chief Strategy Officer and UK CEO, noted that the FXCM book has a strong focus on FX trading and long-standing clients. While the deal is expected to boost Trade Nation’s UK operations, Wright emphasized that the broker paid a "sensible price" for an asset that fits well with its existing business.
The acquisition is set to conclude in late November 2026, following a detailed transition plan developed by both companies. Trade Nation’s Managing Director, Kypros Zoumidou, highlighted that their established relationship with FXCM’s CEO, Brendan Callan, played a key role in securing the deal. The acquired book primarily consists of retail traders, with a smaller segment of professional clients who generate significant revenue.
Meanwhile, the broader sale of FXCM’s entire firm has faced challenges. Jefferies, the owner of FXCM’s parent company, Stratos Group International, has been exploring a sale for months. Earlier bids, such as one from AvaTrade, have not yet led to a definitive agreement. FXCM, once a pioneer in retail forex, has struggled since the 2015 Swiss franc crisis and a subsequent rescue by Jefferies.
The swift sale of FXCM’s UK book to Trade Nation contrasts with the ongoing efforts to sell the rest of the company. The future of FXCM remains uncertain, as does the possibility of another buyer emerging for the remaining assets.
