Trade War Woes Weigh on Canadian Dollar
The Canadian dollar is taking a hit due to ongoing trade tensions between the US and Canada. Despite a positive start in Asia, where markets showed mostly gains, the CAD has fallen against its American counterpart.
Equity trading in Asia saw Tokyo's Topix close 0.50% higher, Sydney's ASX 200 increase by 0.68%, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng remain unchanged. However, this optimism was short-lived as European markets opened with green screens dominating across the continent.
The DAX jumped 0.86% in Frankfurt, the CAC-40 rose 0.43% in Paris, and London's FTSE 100 showed a 0.23% gain. Meanwhile, S&P 500 futures pointed to a 0.42% increase, with US 10-year Treasury yields reaching 4.669%. Gold prices also saw a slight boost, trading at $4,639.12.
