Trimmed Mean Inflation Sparks Concern Over September Rate Hikes
Australia's trimmed mean inflation rate is expected to have risen by 0.4% in August, according to Bank of America Securities.
This would put the trimmed mean inflation at 3.7% year-on-year, still above levels that would make the Reserve Bank of Australia comfortable with interest rates.
The bank also expects headline inflation to jump by 0.9% month-on-month in August, largely due to a rebound in fuel prices and an end to a fuel excise cut.
