Trump Administration Revives Bid to Fire Fed's Lisa Cook Amid Mortgage Fraud Allegations

The Trump administration is moving forward with its attempt to fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook after a Supreme Court ruling allowed President Donald Trump to try again. The White House has given Cook 21 days, until August 26, to respond to mortgage fraud allegations made by the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency last August.

The renewed effort follows the Supreme Court's June decision blocking Trump's first attempt to fire Cook, which ruled that she was not given notice or an opportunity to respond. The court said it was not deciding the validity of the factual dispute in the case.

Cook's lawyers have vowed to challenge this latest pretext and preserve her position as a Fed governor, which ends in 2038.
