Trump Defends Fed Chairman Warsh Against Rate Hike Criticism
US President Donald Trump recently expressed his views on the potential interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve (Fed) in an interview with Punchbowl. According to the transcript, released during the European trading session on Friday, Trump stated that the decision is not solely up to Chairman Kevin Warsh.
In fact, he emphasized that it's a collective decision made by the entire board. When asked about Warsh's role, Trump said 'It's up to Warsh a little bit.' However, he added, 'It's not completely up to Warsh on rate hike before vote.'
Trump also had kind words for Warsh, saying 'I think he’s great; I won’t be criticizing him.' The President's comments come ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to the US in a couple of weeks.
