Trump Demands Fed Cut Rates as US Economy Seeks Boost
US President Donald Trump has renewed his call for the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates. He believes that the US economy could grow at rates of 8%, 9%, 10% or even 12% if borrowing costs were lowered.
In a recent statement, Trump claimed that some countries benefit from lower borrowing costs despite relying heavily on the US economy. He pointed out that the country should have the lowest interest rate in the world, just like it did 30 years ago.
Trump also suggested that some members of the Federal Reserve Board were 'very political.' He mentioned that Fed Chair Kevin Warsh wanted to do the right thing but needed the consent of other policymakers.
