Trump Demands Lowest Interest Rates in World Ahead of Fed Decision

President Donald Trump has renewed his calls for the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates ahead of Wednesday's closely watched policy decision. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump emphasized that the U.S. should have the lowest borrowing costs in the world.

'Rates should be lowered,' he said. 'We have other countries that are paying less interest rates.'

Trump also defended Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh, blaming the broader Fed Board for resisting easier monetary policy. 'Kevin is fantastic, but he's got a board, and the board members are very political,' Trump said.

The president's comments come as investors struggle to gauge the outcome of Wednesday's FOMC meeting, with markets viewing it as one of the hardest Fed decisions to predict in years. The uncertainty stems from conflicting economic signals, including recent inflation data that showed price pressures easing and renewed tensions in West Asia that have pushed oil prices higher.
