Trump Demands Powell Resign Amid Fed Renovation Report
A recent report from the Federal Reserve's internal watchdog found no evidence of criminal misconduct in the $2.5 billion renovation project at the Fed's headquarters.
The report, released after a 120-page investigation, stated that while poor project management likely increased the price tag, 'at no point during our evaluation did we find reasonable grounds to believe that a violation of federal criminal law had occurred.'
Fed Chair Jerome Powell has come under scrutiny from President Donald Trump, who called for Powell's resignation and requested Attorney General Todd Blanche to study the report.
Trump claimed the project was 'over budget' and criticized Powell's management, saying he couldn't manage a building and shouldn't be allowed to manage monetary policy. However, the inspector general found no administrative misconduct during their evaluation.
