Trump Escalates Trade War with Canada Tariffs

Canada's trade war with the US is intensifying as President Donald Trump escalates tariffs on Canadian goods. The retaliatory measures include planned product bans, additional duties, and restrictions on Canadian products in US federal contracts.

Dennis Darby, CEO of the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters, discussed the impact of these tariffs on Canadian manufacturers in an FP Video interview. He noted that many Canadian companies are already feeling the effects, with some being 'in the eye of the storm' due to their reliance on US markets.

Lisa Raitt, a member of Canada's Advisory Committee on Canada-US Economic Relations, emphasized that it may take time for Canada to diversify its economy and reduce dependence on US markets. She also highlighted the need to protect Canadian industries and investors from uncertainty caused by the ongoing trade tensions.
