Trump Reconsiders Removing Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook Over Mortgage Allegations
President Donald Trump is once again considering removing Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook from her position. This move comes after Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts wrote that the president had 'failed to afford Cook the procedural protections to which she was entitled by statute' in his earlier attempt to remove her.
The allegations against Cook, who was appointed by former President Joe Biden and serves a term until 2038, are based on claims that she made false statements on mortgage agreements. However, Cook has denied any wrongdoing and sued over the initial attempt to remove her.
Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino sent Cook a letter stating there was 'sufficient reason to believe' she had made false statements, giving her three weeks to respond.
