Trump Rejection Sparks Oil Price Spike and Inflation Concerns
Oil prices spiked on September 28 as US President Donald Trump's rejection of an Iranian offer of a seven-day truce stoked inflation concerns.
The price of Brent oil rose above $106 per barrel, following a two percent drop on September 25 after news of the offer.
This increase has put inflation back in focus ahead of the Federal Reserve's next policy meeting at the end of October, with CME's FedWatch tool indicating over 65 percent chances of a second successive interest rate hike.
Investors will also be keeping an eye on key economic indicators, including the release of the bank's preferred gauge of inflation and a jobs report, which could influence policymakers' decisions.
