Trump Slams Canada's Exchange Rate as 'Unacceptable'
U.S. President Donald Trump has taken aim at Canada's exchange rate with the U.S., calling it 'unacceptable' in a post on his Truth Social platform.
The current exchange rate sees the Canadian dollar trading at approximately 1.38 CAD, meaning one CAD is worth around 72 U.S. cents.
This disparity has been a long-standing issue, making Canadian exports cheaper for American customers and American goods more expensive for Canadians.
Trump's comments come just two days before Canada's tariffs on U.S. products are set to take effect on Tuesday, September 8, targeting 700 American goods in response to Trump's own 50% tariffs on Canadian exports.
