Trump Targets Fed Governor Again Over Mortgage Allegations
President Donald Trump has launched another attempt to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook from her position. The move comes after the US Supreme Court blocked a previous effort in June, citing lack of notice and opportunity for response.
A letter obtained by The Epoch Times shows that the White House advised Cook of the potential removal 'due to there being sufficient reason to believe that you made false statements on one or more mortgage agreements.'
The allegations stem from 2021, when Cook signed mortgage documents claiming two separate properties as her primary residence at around the same time. The Trump administration claims this may constitute bank fraud and argues that it allowed her to obtain more favorable terms.
Cook's attorneys have denied the allegations, calling them 'baseless' and stating that they will challenge the latest attempt to remove her from office.
