Trump Temporarily Lifts Tariffs on Imported Ground Beef
President Donald Trump has announced that the US will temporarily lift higher tariffs on ground beef imports for 90 days, aiming to lower prices for consumers. The decision allows up to 300,000 metric tons of imported ground beef to be sold at a lower tariff rate.
This move is part of an effort to help rebuild the American cattle herd and support ranchers. Trump claimed that under the Biden administration, the US saw its smallest beef herd in modern history, with prices surging rapidly.
The average price of 100% ground beef per pound in the US is around $6.89, according to data from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
