Trump Threatens Trade Cuts Over Fed Interest Rate Stance

The August jobs report showed a stronger-than-expected economy, adding 162,000 jobs. This has increased the likelihood of a quarter-point hike by the Federal Reserve, now at over 58% according to CME FedWatch.

President Donald Trump responded on social media, threatening to cut trade if the Fed doesn't lower interest rates, saying 'a strong country means a lower interest rate - it's a better credit.'

The Fed's Chairman Kevin Warsh has stated that price stability needs to be their 'predominant focus', and this latest jobs report reinforces his stance.
