Trump Threatens Trade Halt Over Fed Interest Rate Stance
U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to halt trade with countries that have a deficit with the United States unless the Federal Reserve cuts interest rates.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote that high interest rates put the U.S.A. at an 'unfair disadvantage,' and he would not allow it to happen.
The statement came after the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported stronger-than-expected job growth in August, with 162,000 new jobs added, beating economists' expectations.
Trump's comments suggest that he believes lower interest rates are necessary for the U.S. economy and has linked it to trade agreements.
