Trump Threatens Trade Halt Unless Fed Cuts Interest Rates Amid Strong Jobs Report
US President Donald Trump has threatened to halt trade with countries that run trade surpluses with the US unless the Federal Reserve (Fed) cuts interest rates. This comes after a stronger-than-expected monthly jobs report, which saw the US economy add 162,000 jobs in August.
The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.1 per cent, and Trump took to social media to express his frustration with high interest rates, stating 'High interest rates put the US at a very unfair disadvantage, and I won't allow that to happen!'
