Trump Voiced Concerns Over Weak Yen at Summit with Japanese PM
US President Donald Trump raised concerns about yen weakness during a summit with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, Japan's Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama said.
Katayama disclosed this information for the first time after consulting with the Prime Minister's Office. The leaders' discussion on foreign exchange reaffirmed their shared stance behind their July 31 coordinated intervention to counter excessive volatility and disorderly moves in the yen.
The US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Katayama will continue to communicate closely, including on a range of matters such as foreign exchange.
