Trump's Attempt to Oust Federal Reserve Governor Fails Again
Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook is pushing back against President Donald Trump's attempt to fire her.
Cook's attorneys, Abbe Lowell and Norm Eisen, argue in a letter to the White House that Trump has 'no legal basis' to remove her from the board due to alleged mortgage fraud.
The grounds for Cook's removal are based on an incident where she incorrectly listed a property as a vacation home, which she claims was done in error.
Cook's attorneys point out that even Trump and members of his cabinet have made similar mistakes, stating 'An inadvertent error is not fraud.'
The dispute dates back to last year when Trump first attempted to dismiss Cook. The Supreme Court blocked the president from removing her, ruling that Cook was denied due process.
