TRY/JPY Soars on Click 365, but Dollar-Yen Dominates Trading Value
The Tokyo Financial Exchange's Click 365 platform saw trading volume surge in August for TRY/JPY, rising by 235.4% from a year earlier to 666,619 contracts.
This marked a fifth consecutive month that TRY/JPY held the top spot by contract count, with the Mexican peso, South African rand, and Hungarian forint also ranking above the euro and pound on this measure.
However, despite its lead in terms of contract count, TRY/JPY's trading value was significantly lower than USD/JPY, which dominated the platform at ¥601.5 billion.
The lira pair's high-yield status may be contributing to its popularity among traders, with wide interest-rate differentials between Turkey and Japan providing a potential explanation for its position.
