National Bank of Canada announced plans to buy back up to $2.25 billion worth of shares over two years, starting October 9, 2026, which may have contributed to its shares increasing by $2.83 or 1.4% to $212.23.
Air Canada's plan to buy back 27.6 million shares for $800 million at $29 apiece, however, seems to have had a negative impact on the company's stock price, with shares dropping $1.62 or 5.6% to $27.34.
