TSX Futures Rise Ahead of Fed Rate Decision Amid Ongoing Oil Price Uncertainty
TSX futures ticked higher on Wednesday ahead of the Federal Reserve interest rate decision. The S&P/TSX composite index had dropped by 0.3% to end at 35,582.07 on Tuesday after reaching its lowest intraday level since July 31.
The decline in the TSX was attributed to a climb in government bond yields fueled by the oil price surge. U.S. stock index futures also edged up, with S&P 500 futures gaining 28 points or 0.4% and Dow Jones futures rising by 181 points or 0.6%.
Analysts at Deutsche Bank noted that markets have begun to stabilize overnight but the Fed's decision will be a major focus. The central bank is expected to raise interest rates by 25 basis points to a range of 3.75% to 4%
