TSX Futures Tick Higher Ahead of Key US Inflation Data
Futures linked to Canada's main stock index ticked higher on Wednesday as investors prepared for key U.S. inflation data, which could influence the Federal Reserve's interest rate decisions.
The TSX futures rose by 2 points or 0.1% by 06:45 ET (10:45 GMT), putting the index on track to break a five-month winning streak and notch a record-setting ninth-consecutive positive quarter.
However, U.S. stock index futures were muted, with the S&P 500 down 31 points or 0.1%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average mostly flat, and the Nasdaq Composite dipping 49 points or 0.2%.
The focus this week is on key economic prints for cues on the Fed's interest rate decisions. The personal consumption expenditures price index data for August is due out on Wednesday, which is expected to show inflation remaining above the central bank's 2% annual target.
