TSX Futures Ticked Higher Ahead of U.S. Inflation Data
Futures linked to Canada's main stock index, the TSX, ticked higher on Wednesday ahead of key U.S. inflation data that could influence interest rate decisions by the Federal Reserve.
The TSX futures contract rose 2 points, or 0.1%, by 06:45 ET (10:45 GMT), putting the index on track to break a five-month winning streak and notch a record-setting ninth-consecutive positive quarter.
U.S. stock index futures were subdued, with the S&P 500 falling 31 points, or 0.1%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average mostly flat. The Nasdaq composite dipped 49 points, or 0.2%.
The personal consumption expenditures price index data for August is due out on Wednesday, which will provide insight into inflation levels above the Fed's 2% annual target.
New York Fed President John Williams said there may not be 'urgency' to immediately raise rates again in October, but all but two of the 18 officials on the Federal Open Market Committee's latest rate forecasts called for at least one more rate increase this year.
