Tunisian Dinar Strengthens Against Euro as Reserves Rebuild
The Tunisian dinar has strengthened against the euro as central bank data shows reserves and tourism receipts rebuilding.
In its reference rate for Monday, 14 September, the euro fell to 3.3730 Tunisian dinars, a decline of 0.27 percent from Friday's 3.3823, extending a month of narrow moves that has left the European currency 0.22 percent weaker against the dinar than on 14 August.
The week and month in numbers show the euro ceded 0.39 percent against the dinar, down 1.32 millimes since 7 September, with the dollar moving the other way on Monday at 2.9237 dinars, up 0.29 percent, and sterling at 3.9475, up 0.11 percent.
The recovery in reserves is attributed to work remittances that reached 5,300 million dinars by 31 July, up 261 million year on year, and tourism receipts stood at 4,358 million dinars against 4,161 million a year earlier.
