U.S. Jobs Report Stalls Dollar-Yen Rally Amid Intense Selling Pressure
The U.S. jobs report released on August 4th sent shockwaves through the foreign exchange market, initially pushing the dollar-yen pair up to 156.75 yen before it stalled and fell back to the low 155 range.
The Labor Department's employment data showed a significant increase in nonfarm payrolls, exceeding expectations with a gain of 162,000 month-over-month. This led to an initial surge in dollar buying, but the rally was short-lived as selling pressure intensified, and the pair retreated back to pre-release levels.
The yen appreciation trend continued, with the dollar-yen pair falling to around 155.36 yen at one point. The EUR/USD also declined, trading at $1.1601, roughly 0.0020 dollars weaker for the euro compared with the previous level.
