U.S. stocks rose modestly on Wednesday, with tech and industrial sectors leading gains. The Standard & Poor's 500 index increased by 16.45 points or 0.21% to close at 7,708.21, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 119.89 points or 0.22% to finish at 53,463.29.

The Treasury Department announced plans to double its buybacks of long-term Treasuries, which helped the U.S. 30-year Treasury bond yield retreat from a high of 5.33% on Tuesday to 5.20%. The move came amid global bond yields surging to multi-decade highs earlier in the week.

Despite ongoing concerns over valuations and lingering doubts, investors remain optimistic about the market's prospects, with the S&P 500 index within striking distance of its 52-week peak of 7,816.70. The NASDAQ Composite climbed 41.38 points or 0.16% to end at 26,331.09.

The U.S. dollar suffered a broad-based decline in foreign exchange markets, with every major currency posting gains against the greenback. The euro strengthened decisively against the dollar, reaching its highest levels in recent weeks, supported by resilient eurozone economic data and expectations that the European Central Bank may hold rates higher for longer.

Global markets closed with a distinctly bearish tone on Wednesday, as sharp sell-offs in Asian technology shares weighed on European indices. However, London's blue-chip index managed to eke out a modest gain, closing at 10,743.35, a rise of 15.31 points or 0.14%.
