UK businesses reported stronger activity in July, indicating faster economic growth at the start of the third quarter. The flash Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) showed that service sector activity rose for the first time in three months, thanks to good weather supporting leisure and recreation spending. However, overall services growth remained sluggish due to ongoing cost-of-living pressures.

The PMI also revealed lower inflation rates in July, as oil prices fell during the first half of the month. This could strengthen speculation that the Bank of England will hold off raising interest rates. The UK's economic outlook is complex, with businesses facing challenges despite some positive indicators.
