UK Economy Growth Fails to Lift Productivity Woes
The UK economy has been growing at a slow pace, posting a 1.2% growth rate in 2025, following a 1.1% increase in 2024.
This comes after a significant contraction in 2009, when the UK economy shrunk by 4.5%, at the height of the global financial crisis.
However, despite this growth, the country's GDP per capita has actually declined, falling from approximately £40,581 in 2022 to £40,157 in 2024.
This is a worrying trend, as it suggests that productivity issues are not only stagnant but worsening.
