UK Faces Rough Winter as Oil and Gas Prices Soar Above $100 Barrel
A sharp increase in oil and gas prices is casting a dark shadow over the UK's winter prospects, exacerbating concerns about energy-driven inflation.
With crude oil hovering above $100 a barrel and Europe facing a thinner-than-usual gas cushion ahead of the colder months, households are bracing for higher heating bills, electricity costs, transportation fees, food distribution expenses, and essential deliveries.
'That's coming as we have this crisis in the Middle East, we have oil prices going up above $100 a barrel, and we have gas prices going up to the highest level since 2022,' said Sky News analyst Ed Conway.
