UK GDP Revisions Loom as ONS Updates Growth Data
The UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS) will release its revised estimate of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) for April to June on Wednesday at 07:00 UK time. The first estimate showed a growth rate of 0.4% compared to the previous quarter, and a 1.2% increase from the same period last year.
The GDP per head rose 0.4% on the quarter and 1.0% on the year. However, growth has been uneven across quarters, with 0.1% in each of the third and fourth quarters of 2025 before the 0.6% in the first quarter of 2026.
The ONS does not publish a forecast alongside the release, but its own record shows that early estimates can move either way. Since the first quarter of 2000, the average gap between first and final estimates has been 0.27 percentage points, and the average revision has been +0.08 percentage points.
A revision away from 0.4% would alter the growth record ahead of the Bank of England's next decision on November 5th.
