UK Interest Rates Seen Unchanged Amid Rising Inflation

The Bank of England is expected to hold interest rates steady despite rising inflation in the UK. Economists predict that the central bank's benchmark rate will remain at 3.75% for a sixth consecutive meeting, as policymakers await evidence on whether higher inflation translates into sustained price and wage increases.

Inflation accelerated to 3.1% in August from 2.9% in July, driven by higher petrol prices and airfares. The Bank of England's 2% target is now further out of reach.

Financial markets are pricing in the possibility of another interest-rate increase at one of the bank's next two meetings, scheduled for November and December. Higher energy costs have increased the risk that imported inflation could feed into broader consumer prices.
