UK Stock Market Falls Amid Rising Oil Prices and Strait of Hormuz Tensions
The UK stock market opened the week under pressure due to rising oil prices and renewed geopolitical uncertainty. The FTSE 100 traded around the 10,800 level after ending last week at 10,831.09.
Rising oil prices have increased concerns about inflation and interest rates. Brent crude climbed toward $98 a barrel after attacks involving vessels in and around the Strait of Hormuz raised fears of a prolonged disruption to oil shipments.
The main pressure on UK stocks came from rising oil prices, geopolitical uncertainty, inflation concerns, and upcoming US inflation data.
