UKEF Offers Up to 5B Pounds in Financing for Azerbaijani Projects
The UK's Export Finance Agency (UKEF) has expressed its willingness to finance projects in Azerbaijan, with Co-Head of Global Business Origination Natalia Sergeeva stating that the agency can assume risk amounting to 5 billion pound sterling. According to Sergeeva, a number of promising projects fail to materialize due to limited access to long-term financing.
UKEF has the capacity to provide long-term financing for infrastructure projects, with terms extending up to 15 years on average and up to 22 years for clean energy and green projects. The agency can also offer guarantees, covering up to 85% of contract value, which is particularly significant for large-scale projects.
Sergeeva emphasized that UKEF's collaboration with banks and international financial institutions enables the mobilization of additional capital. She noted that Azerbaijan's fundamental indicators are strong, and a portfolio of ambitious projects is taking shape across various industrial sectors.
