Ukraine's NBU Lowers Official Dollar and Euro Rates Amid Strengthening Hryvnia
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has updated its official exchange rates for the US dollar and euro. On August 26, the NBU lowered the official rate for the US dollar to UAH 44.67 per dollar, a decline of 3 kopecks from the previous day's rate of UAH 44.70. Similarly, the euro's official rate decreased by 7 kopecks to UAH 52.08 per euro.
The hryvnia strengthened against both major currencies, but the budget outlook suggests that a different exchange rate may prevail in the future. According to the NBU's data, the average currency buying and selling rates at banks were as follows: US dollar - UAH 44.43 (buying) to UAH 44.92 (selling), euro - UAH 51.76 (buying) to UAH 52.40 (selling).
The draft state budget for 2026 projects an average annual hryvnia exchange rate of UAH 45.6 per dollar, which remains above the current official rate.
