US Agrees to Resume Cash-Dollar Shipments to Iraq
Iraq has reached an agreement with the United States to continue receiving shipments of U.S. dollar banknotes, according to Iraqi government spokesperson Haider Al-Aboudi.
The new shipment is expected to arrive in the coming days following a suspension that lasted several months after a shipment worth around $500 million was halted in April.
The resumption of cash-dollar shipments aims to meet legitimate foreign currency needs, and follows progress made by Iraq in strengthening oversight of dollar distribution and regulating its use.
