The US Justice Department has disrupted a Chinese hacking operation that targeted sensitive government agencies, including the Federal Reserve and NASA. The operation was linked to two hacking platforms, QScan and QTRouter, which were seized by the department.

The investigation found that the platforms had been used since at least 2018 to compromise critical infrastructure and networks in the US and around the world. The group's computer infrastructure was allegedly operated by Nanjing Xinjiuwei Network Technology Company, a China-based firm tied to China's civilian intelligence agency and military.

Cybersecurity experts say private contractors often conduct high-profile intrusions on behalf of Chinese government agencies. The investigation identified the infrastructure used to support the hacking campaign, allowing authorities to seize domains and disrupt the operation.
