US Dollar Consolidates Gains Ahead of Crucial Nonfarm Payrolls Data Release
The US Dollar (USD) has consolidated its weekly gains ahead of a critical Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP) data release on Friday, October 2. As investors await the highly anticipated employment report for September, which includes figures on NFP, wage inflation, and Unemployment Rate, the European economic calendar offers Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) data for September.
The US Dollar has shown strength against several major currencies this week, with a 1.07% gain against the Euro. However, ahead of the NFP release, the USD Index is trading in negative territory below 102.00. Market analysts expect NFP to rise by 90K in September, following August's impressive 162K increase.
TD Securities forecasts a marked loss of momentum in hiring for September, with an expected figure of 50K and an Unemployment Rate rising to 4.2%. Despite this softness, the bank advises 'looking through dovishness' due to seasonal factors and rising participation. This suggests that a seemingly benign wage and employment print may overstate any underlying cooling in labor-market conditions.
