US Dollar Index Speculators Cut Long Positions Amid Shift in Market Sentiment
Large currency speculators in US dollar futures have seen their positions fall sharply, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The non-commercial futures contracts of US dollar index futures, traded by large speculators and hedge funds, totaled a net long position of 10593 contracts in the data reported through September 15, 2026. This marks a significant decrease of 7011 net positions compared to the previous week.
The COT report shows that these large currency speculators have been reducing their bullish bets on the US dollar index. The sharp decline in net long positions may indicate a shift in market sentiment or a change in investment strategy among these key players. However, it is essential to note that this data only reflects the positions of large speculators and hedge funds.
