US Dollar Shipments Resume to Iraq After Months-Long Suspension
Following a months-long suspension, Iraq has reached an understanding with Washington to continue shipments of US dollar banknotes to the country.
The agreement comes after the United States halted a shipment of about $500 million in April amid pressure on Baghdad over attacks by Iran-aligned armed groups and concerns about the use of Iraq's financial system.
A new shipment is expected to arrive in the coming days, according to Iraqi government spokesperson Haider al-Aboudi, who said the funds would help meet Iraq's 'legitimate foreign currency needs'.
