US Dollar Weakens Ahead of Fed Rate Decision as Swiss Growth Forecast Upgraded
The US Dollar (USD) has seen its value decline ahead of the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision, causing the USD/CHF pair to dip. Despite a strong expectation of a 25 basis point rate hike, which would push the benchmark overnight rate to between 3.75% and 4.00%, the Greenback is weakening.
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has upgraded its economic growth forecast for Switzerland from 1.1% to 2%, citing strong exports that reached a five-year high in Q2. However, this uptick comes as the country faces significant challenges, including rapidly aging population and intensifying geopolitical tensions.
Strategists at UOB Group remain cautious, emphasizing that the USD must break and hold above 0.8205 before a move to 0.8245 can be expected. They also stress that the strong support level is at 0.8130, below which the momentum may falter.
