US Inflation Forces Americans Back Home
Soaring ticket prices and rising costs of dining out are forcing Americans to rethink their weekend plans. According to a recent report, inflation for out-of-home entertainment has far outpaced overall consumer price growth over the past two decades.
Since 2000, general U.S. consumer prices have jumped by 87%, but the cost of going out has skyrocketed: concert tickets are up more than 100%, sports event tickets surged by 123%, and dining out rose 3.4% this year alone.
The rising costs are causing a noticeable shift in daily habits, with data from the American Time Use Survey (ATUS) revealing that the percentage of people attending arts and entertainment events dropped by over 20% between 2019 and 2025.
