US Inflation Hits 31-Year High as Gas Prices Soar
US inflation accelerated in August as gas prices surged to new heights.
According to recent data, the US inflation rate rose to a 31-year high of 8.3% in August, surpassing July's 7.9%. The sharp increase is largely attributed to the significant spike in gas prices, which jumped by 10.6% in just one month.
The data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shows that gasoline prices have become a major contributor to inflation, accounting for nearly half of the overall price increases.
