US Inflation Rate Eases Ahead of Fed Decision
The U.S. inflation rate dropped to 3.4% in July, down from 3.5% in June, according to the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
This modest decline in inflation may ease pressure on the Federal Reserve as it prepares for its upcoming monetary policy meeting on September 15-16. The Fed will decide whether to adjust interest rates at this meeting.
The CPI report shows that energy costs remain elevated, but above pre-war levels. Brent crude oil prices have fallen since June's preliminary agreement between the U.S. and Iran collapsed in July.
