US Jobs Report and RBA Rate Decision Set Stage for Global Markets
The upcoming week is packed with significant economic data releases and events that will set the tone for global markets. The US jobs report, scheduled to be released on Friday, October 1st, is expected to show a strong labor market, following last month's Payrolls report which rose by 162K, exceeding expectations.
The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) will also make its interest rate decision on Tuesday, September 28th. A hike is widely anticipated, but the Rate Statement and press conference may provide more insight into the bank's future plans than the decision itself.
The US Core PCE Price Index, a key inflation metric, will be released on Friday, October 1st. While consumer price indexes (CPI) and producer price indexes (PPI) suggest another firm reading, the underlying components may tell a more mixed story, potentially adding to the Federal Reserve's inflation concerns.
The Australian Consumer Price Index (CPI) will also be released on Wednesday, September 29th, following the RBA decision. The headline inflation rate eased in July, but Trimmed Mean held steady at 3.6%. This release could give AUD traders a fresh reason to reassess the interest rate path.
