US Jobs Report Dashes Hopes for October Rate Hike
The US economy added just 29,000 jobs in September, well short of the 90,000 forecast.
This weak jobs report has all but ruled out an October hike by the Federal Reserve (Fed), with futures now pricing a 17% chance of a rate increase in this month down from 70% a week ago.
The Bank of England's hawks are also back on the circuit, with Catherine Mann speaking on Tuesday and Deputy Governor Clare Lombardelli, who recently warned policy may need to tighten if energy prices stay high, speaking on Thursday.
