The US economy showed strong job growth in October, adding 165,000 new positions, according to the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics report. This figure surpassed expectations, which had forecasted a gain of just 65,000 jobs. The unemployment rate also improved, dropping to 4.1% from 4.2% in September.
The September jobs report was revised upward, showing a gain of 60,000 jobs instead of the initially reported 29,000. Analysts had anticipated the unemployment rate would remain steady at 4.2%, making the decline to 4.1% an unexpected positive development.
Average hourly wages saw a modest increase of 14 cents, or 0.4%, reaching $38 in October. This rise in wages, combined with the strong job growth, suggests a robust labor market despite lingering economic uncertainties.
