US Shuts Down All Iranian Airlines Worldwide Starting September 23
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has announced that all Iranian airlines will be shut down worldwide starting September 23, as part of Operation Economic Outcast.
The sanctions action targets every non-American entity in the global aviation supply chain, from fuel companies to ground handlers and ticketing agents. If they continue servicing Iranian aircraft after September 23, they risk being knocked out of the US dollar system.
This means that entities will be excluded from using US dollars for international commercial aviation, which is a crucial aspect of their operations. The threat is functionally equivalent to a global commercial death sentence, making it impossible for businesses to operate effectively in international commerce.
